During the event, a tractor was awarded to farmer Shahbaz Hussain Bhatti through a lucky draw, highlighting the initiative’s focus on recognising agricultural contributions and encouraging modern farming practices.
The ceremony was attended by Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain, who appreciated the role of Sona Centre and its parent organisation Fauji Fertilizer Company in strengthening access to quality agricultural inputs across the country.
The minister reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring uninterrupted supply of essential farming inputs, including fertilisers, seeds, and pesticides, despite regional supply chain challenges.
Sona Centre officials highlighted that the network has expanded rapidly, establishing over 240 centres nationwide in less than two years. The organisation provides fertilisers, seeds, pesticides, advisory services, crop insurance, and financing support to farmers.
Company representatives also outlined the use of AI-based agricultural advisory tools, satellite and drone monitoring systems, and the Sona Kissan mobile application, designed to improve crop productivity and decision-making for farmers.
Speaking at the event, Chief Commercial Officer Muhammad Ali Janjua emphasised that the initiative integrates modern technology with traditional farming support, while also promoting women’s participation through the appointment of female agronomists.
The event also included additional lucky draws for mobile phones, further engaging participating farmers and encouraging community participation in the programme.
Officials said the initiative aims to align Pakistan’s agricultural practices with global standards by combining technology, financial access, and on-ground advisory support.
