The event was attended by PRCS Chairperson Farzhana Naek and Secretary General Muhammad Abaidullah Khan, alongside representatives from international partners including the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, International Committee of the Red Cross, Turkish Red Crescent, Norwegian Red Cross, and German Red Cross. Students, volunteers, and PRCS staff from the twin cities participated in large numbers, demonstrating a strong collective commitment to environmental responsibility.

The event featured a series of engaging activities, including art and wall painting by students to highlight climate challenges and the urgent need to reduce carbon emissions. Awareness sessions focused on minimizing plastic usage, while an interactive theatre performance showcased simple, actionable steps for environmental protection.

A key highlight was the innovative “Green Market,” where participants exchanged recyclable waste for green coins, promoting the principles of reuse, recycling, and responsible consumption. The initiative was widely appreciated for its practical approach to sustainability.

Participants also took part in a cycling activity and a symbolic walk to emphasize eco-friendly living and sustainable practices. Organized as part of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Week, the event reinforced the importance of the “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” philosophy.

Addressing the gathering, Farzhana Naek stressed the shared responsibility to combat climate change, underscoring the importance of reducing carbon emissions and eliminating plastic waste. She also acknowledged the support of the German Red Cross in strengthening PRCS’s Climate Change Program and assisting vulnerable communities.

The event concluded with a tree plantation drive at the PRCS lawn, where fruit-bearing and shade trees were planted, symbolizing a collective commitment to a greener and healthier future.
