Korangi Robbery investigators have linked a suspected robber killed in a police encounter in Karachi’s Korangi Industrial Area to the fatal shooting of a young man during a motorcycle snatching incident earlier this month, police said.

The SHO said Korangi police had launched an operation to arrest the suspects involved in the robbery and murder. During a patrol on Friday night, officers signalled two men riding a motorcycle to stop. Police said one of the suspects opened fire, prompting officers to return fire.
One suspect was killed during the exchange of gunfire, while his accomplice managed to escape under the cover of darkness. Police said a search operation is underway to arrest the fleeing suspect.
Authorities identified the deceased suspect as Asad, son of Sharif, using a police identification system. According to police, he had a criminal record and was wanted in several cases, including robbery, illegal possession of weapons and previous encounters with law enforcement.
Police said the suspect was directly involved in the robbery that resulted in Abbas’s death and recovered a 30-bore pistol, a mobile phone and a motorcycle from his possession.
Investigators said further efforts are continuing to locate the escaped suspect and complete the investigation into the robbery and murder case.
