Trump publicly backed embattled FIFA President Gianni Infantino, warning that removing him from office following a botched plan to sell off World Cup commercial rights to private equity investors would severely harm the global sport.
“FIFA would be making a terrible mistake if, for any reason, they even considered replacing President Gianni Infantino,” Trump wrote, praising Infantino’s execution of the recently concluded tournament.
