MENLO PARK, Calif. — In a 14-page manifesto titled The Future is for Everyone, Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg Meta AI initiative called on US policymakers to reduce regulatory hurdles for open-weight artificial intelligence, arguing that strict domestic data and distillation controls threaten America’s ability to compete with Chinese developers.
The announcement coincided with Meta releasing Muse Glimmer, a compact open-weight model designed to run agentic tasks directly on desktop PCs and Macs equipped with a single graphics card.
“The notion that AI is so dangerous that the only safe path is an extreme concentration of power seems inherently problematic,” Zuckerberg stated in an accompanying video post, emphasizing that broader distribution of technology is safer than centralization.
