Bayern Munich Thrash Bodo-Glimt 5-0 as Musiala Returns to Starting XI

Bayern Munich produced a dominant second-half display to beat Bodo-Glimt 5-0 in the Champions League on Thursday.

Jamal Musiala opened the scoring on his return to the starting lineup. Michael Olise then scored twice to complete a comfortable victory for the six-time European champions.

Harry Kane and Alphonso Davies also found the net as Bayern extended their remarkable record in Champions League opening matches.

Musiala Marks Starting Return With Goal

Musiala was one of three changes made by Bayern coach Vincent Kompany after Saturday’s goalless draw at Schalke.

Kane and Olise also returned to the starting XI.

The Germany international had missed two matches after revealing he was dealing with a neurological condition. He had previously collapsed during two Bayern pre-season friendlies.

His return received a warm reception from his teammates after he put Bayern ahead early in the second half.

Musiala reacted first to a blocked Kane effort. He then fired the ball into the far corner to break Bodo’s resistance.

Kane Extends Scoring Run

Bodo-Glimt defended deep during the opening half and frustrated Bayern’s attack.

The Norwegian side struggled to maintain that resistance after the break.

Kane doubled Bayern’s advantage shortly after the hour mark. The England captain headed in an Olise free-kick.

The goal extended Kane’s Champions League scoring run to eight consecutive matches.

Olise Leads Late Bayern Charge

Bayern took complete control during the final 15 minutes.

Davies struck first with a superb long-range effort with 13 minutes remaining.

Olise then produced another spectacular finish six minutes later. The France winger guided a shot into the top-left corner from around 25 yards.

He completed his brace in stoppage time with another excellent finish.

The late goals turned an already comfortable victory into a statement result for the Bavarian giants.

Bayern Continue Remarkable Champions League Record

The victory extended Bayern’s extraordinary run of 24 consecutive wins in their opening Champions League matches, dating back to 2002.

Bodo-Glimt reached the last 16 of the competition last season and initially showed plenty of defensive discipline.

However, Bayern’s quality eventually proved too much.

The visitors also finished the match with 10 men after Odin Bjortuft received a straight red card for a last-man foul three minutes from full time.

Bayern’s next European fixtures will now come with confidence high after another emphatic Champions League performance.
