Zone-IV Blues Make Flying Start in Touchme Trophy Under-15 Tournament

KARACHI: Medicam Group of Companies has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Regional Cricket Association Karachi (RCAK) and promoting cricket among young players across the city.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Touchme Trophy Under-15 Inter-Zonal Cricket Tournament at KCCA Stadium on Sunday, Medicam Group Executive Director Zahid Hussain Bhatti said the organisation would continue cooperating with RCAK to strengthen cricket at the grassroots level.

Bhatti said Medicam Group had supported RCAK in the past and would maintain its partnership in the future. He added that the organisation wanted to create better opportunities for young cricketers and encourage greater participation in sports.

The tournament has brought together young players and their parents as part of efforts to develop the next generation of Karachi cricketers. Cricket development remains a key focus of the initiative, with organisers aiming to provide players with regular opportunities to compete and improve their skills.

RCAK Secretary Ali Hussain said the association, under the leadership of President Nadeem Umar, would continue providing playing opportunities at different levels. He noted that club cricket was also operating actively across Karachi, with large numbers of young players taking part.

Talent hunt to identify future stars

Chairman Tournament Committee RCAK Khalid Nafees highlighted the association’s Talent Hunt Programme. He said the initiative was helping identify promising young cricketers who could eventually represent Karachi and Pakistan.

RCAK Joint Secretary Muhammad Tauseef Siddiqui said Karachi cricket was currently in safe hands. He praised RCAK officials for their efforts to improve opportunities for players and thanked Medicam Group for supporting grassroots cricket.

He said the partnership was helping young cricketers gain access to quality competitive cricket. He also appreciated the contributions of Azam Khan, Khalid Nafees and other zonal officials.

The ceremony was attended by Javed Akhtar Kayani of Medicam Group, Syed Muhammad Ahmad Naqvi, Zafar Ahmad, Muhammad Rehan Siddiqui, RCAK assistant secretaries, zonal presidents, secretaries and treasurers, along with several other dignitaries.

Zone-IV Blues win opening match

The opening match produced an exciting contest, with Zone-IV Blues defeating Zone-III Blues by 22 runs.

Batting first, Zone-IV Blues scored 179 runs before being bowled out. Waris Muzzammil top-scored with 48, while Abdul Rehman remained unbeaten on 21.

Hamza Salman claimed four wickets for 34 runs, while Rafay Khurram took two wickets for Zone-III Blues.

In reply, Zone-III Blues were dismissed for 157 in 33.5 overs. Farhan Ahmad scored 46, while Hannan Naeem contributed 41.

Rafay Mazhar led the bowling attack with three wickets for 16 runs. His match-winning performance earned him the Man of the Match award, which RCAK Secretary Ali Hussain presented after the game.
