RAWALPINDI, August 14, 2026: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, hosted an Independence Day reception in honour of Pakistan Army veterans in Rawalpindi.
A large number of retired officers and soldiers attended the gathering, which recognised the services of veterans and their continuing contribution to Pakistan’s defence and national resilience.
Speaking at the reception, Field Marshal Asim Munir paid tribute to the veterans for their invaluable service to the country. He acknowledged the sacrifices and dedication they had demonstrated throughout their careers.
The army chief said the experience and guidance of veterans remain an important institutional asset. He also highlighted their continued engagement as particularly valuable as Pakistan faces an increasingly complex and changing security environment.
The Pakistan Army veterans attending the reception expressed confidence in the leadership of the armed forces. They reaffirmed their support for the military in addressing emerging security challenges.
