Karachi : Consul General of the United Arab Emirates in Karachi, Bakheet Ateeq Al Remeithi, has urged the concerned philanthropists and donors in Pakistan to wholeheartedly support genuine charities engaged in educating children belonging to the downtrodden communities.

The UAE Consul General expressed these remarks while speaking at an iftar  dinner held at Karachi Golf Club to present to prospective donors the achievements of the non-profit Al-Furqan Welfare Organization in the schooling of children from deprived classes.

Mr Remeithi said the genuine non-profits doing charitable work in the education sector were truly engaged in the service of Pakistan whose progress and development could only be achieved after tackling the issue of out-of-school children.

While advising the prospective donors to generously donate to the charities like Al-Furqan,

He said that only proper education could empower the coming generation from the lesser-privileged areas to support their families and enable them to defeat poverty and serve the country in the best possible manner.

He urged the Al-Furqan Welfare Organization to continue with its movement to overcome the issue of illiteracy in Pakistan affecting several destitute families.

Al-Furqan Welfare Organization President, Faryal Asif, said that her non-profit had begun its journey 12 years back by launching a one-room charitable school with an enrolment of just 16 children.

She expressed her sincere gratitude to the concerned donors and supporters of her non-profit enabling it to establish 14 schools in Karachi having an enrolment of over 2,500 students from unprivileged families.

She appealed to the concerned philanthropists to continue providing support to Al-Furqan schools that besides education also took care of the nutritional, healthcare, and vocational training needs of their students.

She told the audience that Al-Furqan had been able to get support from two donor organizations that committed to sponsoring the higher education of the students who passed out from its schools to enable them to become productive members of Pakistani society.

She expressed her resolve to expand the number of Al-Furqan schools in order to enroll thousands of more out-of-school children in the deprived parts of the country.
