KARACHI – President Dr. Arif Alvi has said that federal government attaches top priorty to the solution of Karachi’s long standing and in this regard steps are being taken in a coordinated manner.
He was talking to media alongwith Governor Imran Ismail at the Governor House in Karachi on Tuesday after chairing the inaugural meeting of Karachi Transformation Committee.
The President said that the Committee has been set up to take into account major issues of Karachi and bring back its past glory.
He said that Karachi has a long standing issue of water shortage for which measures are being taken to resolve it at the earliest.
He said that water issues also exist in other provinces including Balochistan where the problem is much severe than Sindh.
He was of the view that establishment of Water Regulatory Authorities in all the provinces is essential to resolve these issues as all the related steps including installation of desalination plants and water treatment plants will be carried out through this authority.
He said that all Federal Funded projects are progressing well including Green Line Project which is heading towards its final stages.
Speaking on the occasion, Sindh Governor said that this was the first meeting of KTC to devise a strategy as to how the committee would work to resolve the issues of Karachi.
He said suggested to Sindh Government to appoint their representatives to ensure progress and transparency in federal government funded projects.
The Governor said he has also held meeting with Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister Murtaza Wahab in this regard and he has assured of his response after discussing the matter with the Chief Minister.
