According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), both leaders exchanged views on the evolving regional situation and ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions in the Middle East.

The discussion comes amid renewed international attention on US-Iran engagement, following President Donald Trump’s announcement of another round of negotiations involving American representatives traveling to Islamabad for talks with Tehran.

During the call, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked the Iranian leadership for sending a high-level delegation, led by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Abbas Araghchi, for earlier talks held in Islamabad on April 11–12.

He also highlighted Pakistan’s recent diplomatic engagements with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Türkiye, stating that these efforts have helped build consensus in favour of sustained dialogue and diplomacy for lasting regional peace.

The Prime Minister further acknowledged Iran’s engagement with Pakistan’s military leadership, including Field Marshal Asim Munir during his visit to Tehran, describing such interactions as important for regional stability.

“Pakistan remains fully committed to promoting peace and security in the region with the support of its partners,” PM Shehbaz said, also conveying his regards to Iran’s Supreme Leader.

President Pezeshkian appreciated Pakistan’s continued diplomatic efforts, expressing optimism that relations between Iran and Pakistan would grow stronger in the future.

The conversation reflects ongoing high-level coordination between Islamabad and Tehran at a time of intensified diplomatic activity aimed at managing regional tensions and supporting ceasefire efforts.
