Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved a four-day public holiday for Eidul Adha, scheduled from Friday, June 6 to Monday, June 9, according to media reports on Saturday.
All government and private institutions—including schools, colleges, offices, and banks—will remain closed during this period to allow citizens to observe the religious festival.
The announcement follows the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee’s confirmation of the Zilhaj moon sighting on May 27, with Eidul Adha falling on Saturday, June 7. Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad made the official declaration.
Sources indicate that a formal notification from the Cabinet Division regarding the Eid holidays will be released soon.
In addition, Pakistan Railways has arranged five special Eid trains to help people travel to their hometowns and celebrate with loved ones during the extended holiday.
