Muhammad Shahzeb Khan, also known as Shahzeb Jadoon, was arrested in Canada on September 4. The 20-year-old Pakistani citizen is accused of planning a mass shooting at a Jewish center in Brooklyn, New York. He is charged with attempting to support ISIS.
According to Attorney General Merrick B. Garland, Khan allegedly intended to carry out the attack on October 7, aiming to kill as many Jewish people as possible. The FBI, working with Canadian law enforcement, intervened before Khan could execute his plan.
FBI Director Christopher Wray praised the investigation, highlighting the FBI’s commitment to fighting terrorism. Khan’s plan included using automatic rifles and other weapons, and he discussed targeting Jewish communities in New York City. He was apprehended near the U.S.-Canada border while attempting to reach the U.S.
Khan faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted. The case is being handled by U.S. Attorneys and the Justice Department, with efforts underway to extradite him from Canada.
