Pakistan was the fastest growing economy in the region in early 60,s said by Amb: Rehmatullah Javed founder Secretary General & mission chief of SAARC chamber. Amb; Rehmatullah Javed said every thing started well when Pakistan came into being. He said that Pakistan was the fastest growing economy in early 60’s in Asia in and thereafter Pakistan became Atomic power stunning the whole world. He said Pakistan is the 5th largest Agriculture power in the world. Amb: Javed also asked several questions to business leaders experts in a meeting here yesterday, He said we never managed our waters and also gave no real attention to generate energy from our hydro resources. He said we could not built Kala Bagh Dam due to some external politics. Amb: Javed told the business friends that Pakistan is rich with Arabian sea wind and this wind corridor can help to generate cheap green energy. He explained that the pressure of the sea wind from Karachi keeps on bellowing and goes up to interior Sind where wind turbines can be installed,Solar is also a Allah given gift which must be fully utilised he also disclosed that latest technology have reduced the weight solar panels.  He said our present share of energy from hydro is less than 30% and rest is generated by thermal which is very expensive and stoping our industry. He also appealed to the government to cancel the contract with IPPs at once.He also requested the business leaders to take up this matter of IPP with government. He pointed out that our Agri yield is lowest in the region and we need to step up our RND in agriculture with bio technologies to promote agriculture. He stated that due to low yield we are forced to import grain and other food products costing billions of dollars. Let us think about it and chalk out a program to become self sufficient in this sector of great importance.lastly he said that our industry must perform and produce products so that export is enhanced to meet our forex needs. He also requested the businessmen that our trade deficit is increasing there fore we must import only those items & raw materials which are required to run our industry he said we are spending huge foreign currency on the import of luxury items which must be stopped. SBP must play its national role to stop this. Luxury vehicle’s must be banned in toto to protect local industry. Imposing heavy duties on the luxury cars and vehicles is not going to stop these vehicles.
