The armed forces of Pakistan and Egypt successfully concluded a two-week joint military exercise, Thunder-II, focused on counterterrorism operations at Cherat, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Pakistan, UK Discuss Expanding Cooperation Amid Regional Developments
The exercise was aimed at enhancing interoperability between the two militaries by refining operational drills, procedures, and tactical coordination in counterterrorism scenarios. It provided a platform for both sides to share professional expertise and strengthen joint operational capabilities.
Elite combat teams from the Pakistan Army’s Special Services Group (SSG) and Egyptian Special Forces participated in the exercise, demonstrating high levels of professionalism, coordination, and combat readiness throughout the training period.
The closing ceremony was attended by the General Officer Commanding of the Special Services Group as the chief guest. Senior Egyptian military officials, including Commander Egyptian Paratroopers Major General Mohamed Saad Abdel Razik, along with Egypt’s Defence Attaché, also witnessed the concluding event.
Officials said the exercise not only improved tactical cooperation but also reinforced the longstanding and historic military-to-military relations between Pakistan and Egypt. The joint training underscores both countries’ commitment to strengthening defense collaboration and counterterrorism preparedness.
