Leading organizations in Pakistan will now be able to join those from across Asia Pacific that are turning to Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer to run their businesses and adapt to unpredictable business environments.  By delivering high-performance capabilities of Exadata Cloud Service behind a customer’s own data center firewalls it gives them the ability to gain a full public cloud experience and quickly get more value from their data while meeting the country’s strict requirements for data sovereignty and security.

Amer Khan, Senior Director and Head of Cloud Platform Group, Pakistan and Afghanistan said: “Organizations in Pakistan have been among the earliest adopters of technological advancements in the region, embracing digital, cloud, and other emerging technologies as they modernize their operations and drive innovation. Now, with the recently announced Cloud-First Policy we expect to see accelerated digital transformation in public sector organizations too.  A truly hybrid platform like Exadata, available on-premises, in the public cloud, and now as Cloud@Customer, meaning data doesn’t ever have to leave a customer’s data centre, has the potential to really help with that shift. Another important benefit of the Exadata platform, given that data, is at the heart of digital government transformation, is that it also makes cutting-edge technologies like Oracle’s autonomous database, which includes built-in machine learning, more easily available.”

Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer

Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer X9M is the simplest way to move an organization’s vitally important Oracle databases and business-critical workloads, including core banking systems and IT infrastructure, to the cloud. Additionally, with Exadata Cloud@Customer, IT teams can focus on driving innovation because public cloud resource management and optional Oracle Autonomous Database capabilities allow them to eliminate up to 80 percent of manual database operations.[1]

The latest version, the Oracle Exadata X9M platform, continues the unique scale-out architecture of the core Exadata platform, which is optimized to accelerate analytics applications, and the processing of low-level SQL queries, analytics, and machine learning algorithms. It helps simplify IT operations, allowing any combination of OLTP, analytics, machine learning, in-memory and mixed workloads to complete faster and consume fewer resources. Additionally, Exadata X9M customers can consolidate even more Oracle Databases on a single Exadata system, helping reduce cost and complexity.

What customers and analysts are saying

Today, 87 percent of the Global Fortune 100 and thousands of smaller enterprises rely on Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer to run mission-critical Oracle Databases, consolidate database infrastructure, and help reduce costs.

Suthathip Soniam, Director, General Strategy and Evaluation Department, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration: “With the implementation of Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer as our primary IT platform for all of the key applications running our operations, we can provide more mobile-friendly services to residents. Having one single, the integrated cloud platform can help us gain data-driven insights. Additionally, higher system efficiency and speed in collecting and analyzing information can help reduce the wait time to be served and citizens’ service requests or inquiries can be attended to in a shorter time than ever before.”

“The recently introduced Cloud First policy in Pakistan will likely accelerate cloud adoption in both public and private sectors in Pakistan, especially in those industries where data sovereignty and security play a critical role.  But not all workloads can move to the cloud overnight.  Having a secure, performant hybrid cloud available will offer a simple pathway for the public sector organizations to help them with the move as they seek to transform public services, enhance service delivery to the citizens, and reduce public spending,” said Simon Piff, IDC Vice President for Asia/Pacific. “It’s also clear today that organizations operate in an increasingly multi-cloud world, so choosing a cloud that supports and simplifies integration should also be a priority.”

Increasing Adoption of Dedicated Region

Oracle Exadata also provides the foundation for Oracle Dedicated Region Cloud@Customer.  This innovative offering delivers on Oracle’s strategy to meet customers where they are by enabling them to keep data and services where they need it through the ability to deploy Oracle’s complete portfolio of public cloud services and Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications into a customer’s own data center.

Customers include the Sultanate of Oman (Video)more recently, Bangladesh Data Center Company Limited (BDCCL).  The Bangladesh government-owned data storage and disaster recovery services provider has selected Dedicated Region Cloud@Customer to provide sovereign-hosted cloud services to the Bangladesh government.  The Dedicated Region Cloud@Customer can enable BDCCL to run its entire IT portfolio on cloud infrastructure and have physical control of infrastructure and data, ensuring that government users meet the most demanding data sovereignty requirements.
