TEXAS : A new chapter in the history of space exploration has been written as NASA’s Artemis 2 mission has broken all previous records for traveling the farthest distance from Earth. Four astronauts aboard the Orion spacecraft crossed a distance of 4171 kilometers at 3:58 pm UT on Monday, surpassing the distance previously set by the Apollo 13 mission in 1970. The mission is orbiting the far side of the moon and is expected to reach its maximum distance from Earth, about 46,788 kilometers. During this historic journey, astronauts will spend more than six hours observing and recording details of the lunar surface as they pass close to the moon. The spacecraft will then head back to Earth via a special return path.
