Karachi — The National Bank of Pakistan has taken another step toward public sector digitisation by launching a Raast QR-based licensing fee collection system in collaboration with the National Highways & Motorway Police (NHMP), enabling seamless and cashless payments for citizens.

The initiative allows motorists and applicants to pay licensing-related fees on the spot through digital QR codes, improving convenience, transparency, and efficiency in government service delivery.

The agreement was formalised during a signing ceremony attended by senior officials from both organisations. The collaboration was led by National Bank representatives including Regional Head Islamabad Muhammad Saqib and senior management officials, alongside NHMP representatives including SP Shahbaz Alam and DIG Asghar Ali Yousafzai.

According to officials, the system is part of a broader effort to strengthen digital governance and reduce reliance on cash transactions in public service operations. It is expected to improve fee collection efficiency while minimizing delays and leakages in the system.

National Bank of Pakistan officials said the initiative reflects the bank’s growing role in enabling government institutions to adopt modern financial technologies. They added that the project opens the door for wider collaboration in areas such as employee banking services and nationwide Raast QR-based payment systems.

The launch is seen as a significant milestone in Pakistan’s push toward a cashless economy, particularly in public sector fee collection and citizen-facing services.
