Karachi — The business community has expressed deep grief over the passing of renowned businesswoman and former Member of the National Assembly Begum Salma Ahmed, who passed away at the age of 85 and was laid to rest at the Tariq Road graveyard beside her parents.

Former Vice President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry Shabnam Zafar expressed heartfelt condolences and described Begum Salma Ahmed’s death as an irreparable loss for Pakistan’s business and industrial sectors.
She said Begum Salma Ahmed played a pioneering role in promoting women’s participation in business, particularly supporting women entrepreneurs and helping them reach international markets. She also highlighted her significant contribution to the ship-breaking industry, where she made a notable impact during her career.
Shabnam Zafar extended condolences to the family of the deceased, including her sons Arif Janjua, Murtaza Hussain Qureshi, and Farhad Ahmed, and daughters Fozia Ahmed and Sabiha Ahmed.
She praised the late leader’s efforts in empowering women economically and said her legacy would continue to inspire future generations of businesswomen in Pakistan.
