I felicitate the community elders, brothers, sisters and children on the joyous day of Eid. I am thankful to Allah Almighty who gave us the opportunity to keep fasts, offer prayers and help our needy brothers and sisters.
While Eid day brings happiness, this year the humanity across the globe is passing through unprecedented and extraordinarily difficult times owing to COVID-19 pandemic. It was a different Ramzan for Muslims too; with least congregations and festivities but good time to reflect together with respective families. I convey heartfelt condolences to those who lost their near-ones to the pandemic and pray for speedy recovery of those sick and impacted.
The true joy relates to taking care of the needy, have-nots and those subjugated. I witnessed our celebrated values of hospitality and charity on display in Houston and elsewhere during Ramzan and lockdowns related to COVID-19. Am proud to represent this dynamic community; for their generosity, volunteerism and setting new precedence such as ‘virtual Iftaars’. I recognise and join admirers for your active participation in various food and PPE drives, being at frontline as medical practitioners/first responders and volunteers. Where it helps smoothen the social inequalities and promote the spirit of sacrifice, it also provides a strong bond for mutual harmony, inclusivity and fraternity amongst the society.
