KARACHI, April 29, 2026 — The Employers’ Federation of Pakistan (EFP) has appointed Mehmood Arshad as Chairman of its Economic Council, following a decision taken during a recent meeting of its newly elected Board of Directors.

According to the announcement, the decision reflects EFP’s continued focus on strengthening policy dialogue and enhancing private-sector participation in economic planning and development.
Mehmood Arshad, who is already a member of the EFP Board, brings extensive experience in economic diplomacy, financial services, and corporate leadership. He currently serves as Group Executive Director at Pak-Qatar Group and holds board positions in several local and international organizations.
The EFP leadership expressed confidence that his appointment will strengthen the Economic Council’s role in shaping policy discussions and supporting sustainable economic growth in Pakistan.
In his remarks, Arshad said the Economic Council would continue to focus on promoting exports and attracting investment, particularly at a time when shifting global and regional geopolitical dynamics are increasing Pakistan’s strategic economic relevance.
He emphasized that the council aims to identify emerging opportunities and support initiatives that enhance Pakistan’s economic potential through structured policy engagement.
