JAMSHORO, April 29, 2026 — Shaheed Allah Buksh Soomro University of Art, Design and Heritages (SABS University) held its 7th Syndicate meeting, approving a series of significant policy, academic, and administrative decisions aimed at strengthening institutional governance and aligning with national higher education standards.

The meeting was chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Arabella Bhutto and attended by senior representatives from the Sindh government and academia, including Secretary Universities and Boards Muhammad Abbas Baloch and Higher Education Commission Pakistan official Sulaiman Ahmed, along with other syndicate members and university officials.
The Syndicate confirmed the minutes of its 6th meeting held in November 2025 and reviewed progress on earlier decisions. It also approved actions taken by the Vice-Chancellor after the 5th Syndicate meeting.
Among key decisions, the Syndicate endorsed the recommendations of the 3rd Selection Board meeting and the 8th Finance and Planning Committee meeting, reinforcing administrative and financial oversight mechanisms. To enhance academic governance, it approved the nomination of faculty members to the Boards of Studies across departments including Fine Arts, Communication Design, Fashion Design, and Textile Design.
On administrative matters, the Syndicate approved the transfer of services and pensionary benefits for Assistant Professor Ar. Hina Marvi Khilji to Mehran University of Engineering and Technology and Deputy Registrar Muhammad Younis Kangri to Sindh Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases.
The meeting also endorsed recommendations of the Upgradation Review Committee regarding the Accountant (BPS-17) position and approved the implementation of the Isolated Cadres Policy at the university.
In line with national frameworks, the Syndicate adopted multiple policies of the Higher Education Commission Pakistan, including the Plagiarism Policy, the revised Protection Against Women Harassment Policy 2025, Policy Guidelines for Faculty-Led Startups and Spin-Offs, and the National Fee Refund Policy 2024. Additionally, the Constituent Colleges Policy was formally approved.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmed commitment to improving academic quality, strengthening governance structures, and ensuring compliance with national higher education standards.
