KARACHI- President, Employers’ Federation Pakistan, Ismail Suttar, believes that Pakistan continues to show an upward trend in exports and the meat industry of Pakistan is no different. Pakistan meat industry is a dynamic sector of the economy that has developed rigorously from the 1900s to date. This development, primarily came to fruition as the government of Pakistan showed an interest to boost livestock production and processing facilities in the region to meet the increasing local and global demand.
In a statement, the EFP president said, “Witnessing history, the Meat industry of Pakistan has had a market of 4.5 million tons in 2019, considering an average growth of 4.86% since the 1970s till today, we can claim that the current meat industry of Pakistan lies somewhere around 4.9 million tons. In view of the statistics, untapped potential and government’s interest in the economic sector one cannot argue that this particular section of the economy will continue to grow in the times ahead.”
The EFP president was of the opinion that looking at the current state of affairs, Jordan has given the go ahead to three Pakistani slaughterhouses for exporting to the Middle Eastern country. This opportunity will open up a new market for Pakistani exports of meat products to Jordan, making use of the tremendous untapped potential we have in the sector.
Ismail Suttar congratulates the Ministry of commerce on this commendable achievement and highly appreciates the vision of our Adviser for Commerce and Investment, Abdul Razak Dawood. “We believe that even in this situation, it is evident that the Islamic Republic of Pakistan would come to standards with the demand and quality standards in many regions globally, even Jordan. If the region has given the go ahead to Pakistan, it would be a mutually beneficial and satisfactory trade bargain between both parties”, he added.
