The Karachi Table Tennis Championships were successfully held at the Sindh Sports Complex in Nazimabad, Karachi, in conjunction with World Table Tennis Day, bringing together athletes, officials, and sports enthusiasts in a vibrant celebration of the sport.

Organized by the Karachi Table Tennis Association in collaboration with the Sindh Table Tennis Association and Alishan Table Tennis Club, the event featured a colorful opening ceremony beginning with recitation from the Holy Quran by junior national player Ahram Farrukh, followed by the national anthem.
This year’s championship held special significance as it aligned with World Table Tennis Day, observed globally on April 23 under the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF). The occasion was marked with a cake-cutting ceremony and the distribution of commemorative gifts, including T-shirts and mugs, creating a festive atmosphere for participants and guests.
The event was inaugurated by Chief Guest Fazal Karim Dadabhoy, who officially opened the championship with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The tournament features multiple categories, including men’s and women’s team events, singles, doubles, mixed doubles, under-19 competitions, and veterans’ matches, attracting a wide pool of national and international players.
A special tribute was paid to Pakistan’s veteran table tennis icon Nazo Shakoor, a Pride of Performance award recipient and seven-time national champion. She was honored with a cash award of Rs. 100,000 in recognition of her contributions to the sport.
Prominent sports personalities, officials from Olympic associations, and media representatives attended the ceremony, which concluded with a dinner hosted for all guests and participants.
The championship highlighted Karachi’s growing role in promoting table tennis and fostering youth participation in competitive sports.
