ISLAMABAD — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the successful conclusion of the first high-level committee meeting held in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, as part of the ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States, and said Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts contributed to the progress achieved.
In a statement shared on social media platform X, the prime minister said the meeting ended with agreement on a roadmap aimed at reaching a final agreement within 60 days, alongside the establishment of a high-level committee for political oversight and the launch of further technical negotiations.
He stated that the first meeting under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding framework concluded successfully and described the discussions as constructive and positive, noting that encouraging progress emerged during the process.

Shehbaz Sharif praised the leadership of both Iran and the United States for maintaining commitment to dialogue and thanked friendly and brotherly countries that supported the diplomatic process.
The prime minister extended special appreciation to Qatar, saying its role was important in creating a favourable environment for negotiations. He also thanked the Swiss government for hosting and facilitating the talks.
Highlighting Pakistan’s contribution, Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and said his sustained efforts, determination and commitment played an important role in advancing the negotiations.
The prime minister said progress in the talks would not have been possible without those efforts.
He also acknowledged the diplomatic work of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs team and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi for supporting the process.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s diplomatic position, the prime minister said the country would continue to play a sincere and constructive role in promoting peace, dialogue and diplomacy to support lasting and peaceful solutions to international disputes.
