A small group of supporters gathered at Tijuana International Airport before dawn to greet the squad as it landed around 5:00 a.m.

Among them was local resident Sadegh Galavi, who proudly wore the national team’s jersey while waiting for the players’ arrival.

“My national team is coming to my city, and being here is a small thing I can do just to welcome them,” he told AFP.

Fans cheered as the team bus departed the airport. Although the crowd was modest, supporters said they wanted to show solidarity during a challenging period for the team.
