As part of the celebrations, foodpanda launched its “Rider for a Day” campaign, allowing corporate staff—including senior leadership—to step into the shoes of delivery riders. Employees donned the brand’s signature pink gear and took to the streets to complete orders, gaining firsthand experience of the challenges faced by riders. The initiative is designed to help shape future policies and innovations based on real-world insights.
Recognizing the physical demands of delivery work, foodpanda also partnered with multiple restaurant outlets nationwide to provide free, high-quality meals to riders throughout the day. These partner locations served as rest and refreshment hubs, offering riders a space to recharge during their shifts.
In addition to community engagement, the company introduced financial incentives for riders working on Labour Day, offering extra payments on top of regular earnings. Riders were also given PKR 250 discount vouchers for pickup orders, enabling easier access to meals during work hours. The initiative saw strong participation, with many riders utilizing the vouchers over the Labour Day weekend.
Further strengthening its community outreach, foodpanda collaborated with Sahulat Foundation to host a special appreciation event in Lahore. The event brought together 100 riders, providing them with a platform to connect and celebrate their contributions. Each participant received a formal meal along with a PKR 2,000 cash grant to help ease financial pressures amid rising fuel costs.
Speaking on the occasion, CEO Muntaqa Peracha emphasized that delivery partners remain central to the company’s operations. He stated that Labour Day serves as an opportunity to recognize their efforts and ensure they feel valued, respected, and supported.
These initiatives reflect foodpanda’s ongoing commitment to rider welfare, including efforts in financial inclusion, insurance coverage, and building a more sustainable future for the delivery workforce.
