PESHAWAR: Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Tuesday reiterated the armed forces’ commitment to defeating terrorism and maintaining lasting peace and stability in Pakistan.
Field Marshal Munir made the remarks during a visit to Corps Headquarters Peshawar, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
During the visit, he received a briefing on the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The briefing also covered ongoing counterterrorism operations, border management and the operational preparedness of formations deployed in the province.

Field Marshal Munir praised the morale and readiness of officers and troops in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He also acknowledged their professionalism and commitment to protecting the country and its people.
The army chief directed the formations to remain vigilant. He also called for the highest standards of operational preparedness.
According to ISPR, the armed forces remain determined to combat terrorism with the support of the nation. The military leadership has also reiterated its focus on peace and stability across the country.

Tribute Paid to Martyrs
During the visit, Field Marshal Munir also visited Yadgar-e-Shuhada at Corps Headquarters Peshawar.
He laid a floral wreath and offered Fateha in memory of soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
The army chief paid tribute to the personnel who died while defending the country and fighting terrorism. He also reaffirmed that their sacrifices would not be forgotten.
Upon arrival at Corps Headquarters Peshawar, Field Marshal Munir was received by the Commander Peshawar Corps.
Visit Follows Recent Attacks in KP
The visit comes amid a recent rise in militant attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
A deadly attack at the old Police Lines in Kohat last week left 23 people dead, according to police and counterterrorism officials. The victims included 17 police personnel and six civilians. Eight attackers were killed during a subsequent clearance operation.
A day later, six security personnel were killed in an exchange of fire in Hangu, while eight militants were killed, according to military officials.
Pakistan also carried out what the Information Ministry described as “calibrated” airstrikes against militant sites in the border region with Afghanistan. The ministry said more than 28 militants were killed in the strikes, while nine others were killed during ground operations in Kohat, Hangu and Thal.
The recent developments have placed renewed focus on security operations and border management in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
