ECON FLIMORA: Iqra University Showcases Student Creativity Through Economics Films
More than 600 students transformed complex economic concepts into short films, highlighting innovation, teamwork and experiential learning at Iqra University Business School.

KARACHI: ECON FLIMORA returned to Iqra University Business School (IUBS) with its 11th edition, bringing together students, academics and industry professionals to demonstrate how visual storytelling can make economics more engaging and accessible.
Held at the Mini Auditorium, EDC, Main Campus, Karachi, ECON FLIMORA 11.0 – Reimagining Economics Through Visualization encouraged students to present business and economics concepts through short films. Sponsored by Faysal Funds, the initiative combined academic research with creativity, teamwork and communication to strengthen practical learning.
More than 600 students from 14 academic sections participated in the event. Working in teams, they produced 24 short films covering a wide range of business economics topics. The videos were screened before an audience of more than 100 students, faculty members and invited guests, showcasing innovative approaches to explaining complex economic ideas.

Dr. Ammar Ahmed Siddiqui, Head of Department, conceptualized and led the programme with co-supervision from lecturer Ms. Nargis Noman. The judging panel included senior media professional and public relations expert Noman Shabbir, alongside Tauseef Shah, Shawn Ivan, Dr. Iffat Mughal and Mirza Naveed Baig.
The judges praised the students for combining analytical thinking with creativity and highlighted the importance of communication, confidence and problem-solving skills in academic and professional development.
Speaking at the event, Noman Shabbir said the students had successfully transformed economics into an engaging visual experience through short films. He described the initiative as an effective learning model that encourages critical thinking and urged other universities to consider adopting similar approaches to teaching economics.
After a detailed evaluation, the Aggregate Demand Group secured first place and received a cash prize of PKR 30,000 for its creativity, presentation and conceptual clarity. The Market Power Group finished second and won PKR 20,000, while the Exports Group claimed third place with a prize of PKR 10,000.

Faculty members said ECON FLIMORA continues to expand learning beyond traditional classroom methods by promoting collaboration, visualization and practical application. They added that the programme reflects Iqra University’s continued commitment to academic excellence, experiential learning and stronger engagement with industry.
