Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has unveiled a major welfare initiative aimed at supporting widows and low-income women in South Punjab by distributing free cows and buffaloes worth Rs2 billion.
Under the first phase of the Punjab Chief Minister’s Livestock Assets Programme, a total of 4,870 animals will be distributed among 11,000 deserving women across 12 districts: Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Layyah, Kot Addu, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Vehari, Rahim Yar Khan, and Bahawalpur.
The program is targeted at widowed and divorced women aged 55 and above, who can apply from home via a mobile application. Alternatively, they can reach out to the Chief Minister’s Helpdesk located at veterinary hospitals in their area for assistance in availing the livestock.
Since assuming office, CM Maryam Nawaz has launched multiple initiatives to uplift the underprivileged in Punjab, with this latest scheme focused on empowering rural women through sustainable livestock support.
