Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong conveyed Beijing’s “full support and appreciation” for Pakistan’s continued role in promoting dialogue and regional stability during a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
The discussions also covered evolving regional developments, with both sides reaffirming the strength of the China–Pakistan “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership” and agreeing to maintain close coordination through continued high-level exchanges.
Separately, Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, where both leaders emphasised the importance of dialogue and engagement as essential tools for ensuring peace and stability in the region.
Pakistan has increasingly positioned itself as a mediator in efforts to facilitate indirect engagement between Washington and Tehran, amid heightened tensions in the broader Middle East. Officials say Islamabad is acting as an “honest broker” to keep diplomatic channels open despite deep divisions over sanctions, security, and regional influence.
The diplomatic activity comes as preparations continue for a second round of US-Iran talks in Islamabad, with Washington confirming that a high-level delegation is expected to visit. Multiple countries, including regional and global powers, have reportedly acknowledged Pakistan’s facilitation efforts in easing tensions.
Observers say Beijing’s public backing underscores the strategic importance of Pakistan’s mediation role at a time when competing geopolitical interests are converging in the region.
