KARACHI: In a major step toward strengthening journalism and expanding digital livelihood opportunities, the Council of Economic and Energy Journalists (CEEJ) and the Pakistan Freelancers Association (PFA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Karachi Press Club.

The agreement was formally signed by Ibrahim Amin, Co-founder and Chairman of PFA, and Kashif Munir, Secretary of CEEJ. The ceremony was attended by prominent media figures, including M. Fazil Jamili and Raja Kamran.

Under the partnership, PFA will provide training and support to CEEJ members to help them develop skills for freelancing in the global digital economy. The initiative is designed to enable journalists—particularly those covering economic and energy sectors—to diversify their income streams, access international markets, and adapt to the rapidly changing media environment.

CEEJ represents journalists reporting on key sectors such as economy and energy, contributing significantly to informed public discourse. Meanwhile, PFA focuses on empowering Pakistan’s growing freelance community through capacity-building, mentorship, and international exposure.

The collaboration reflects a shift toward sustainable and skill-based journalism, where media professionals are not only storytellers but also active participants in the global digital marketplace. Observers describe the initiative as a timely move that could open new avenues for journalists across Pakistan amid evolving industry challenges.
