Bangladesh delivered a commanding performance in the Dhaka Test, defeating Pakistan by 104 runs and sealing a comfortable win in the opening match of the series.
Chasing a challenging target of 268 runs, Pakistan’s batting lineup collapsed on the final day in Mirpur, being bowled out for just 163 runs. The visitors struggled to build partnerships and failed to handle Bangladesh’s disciplined bowling attack.
Debutant Abdullah Fazal offered the only notable resistance with a solid 66-run innings, but received little support from the rest of the batting order.
Salman Ali Agha contributed 26 runs, while Mohammad Rizwan, Saud Shakeel, and Azan Awais added 15 runs each. Noman Ali scored 4 runs, Imam-ul-Haq and captain Shan Masood managed just 2 runs each, Hassan Ali scored 1, and Shaheen Afridi was dismissed without scoring.
Bangladesh’s bowling unit dominated proceedings, with Nahid Rana producing a match-winning spell of 5 wickets. Taijul Islam and Taskin Ahmed picked up two wickets each, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz claimed one wicket to wrap up Pakistan’s innings.
Earlier in the match, Bangladesh posted a strong total of 413 runs in their first innings. Pakistan responded with 386 runs, keeping the contest competitive before falling behind in the final innings.
In the second innings, Bangladesh declared at 240/9, setting Pakistan a target of 268 runs. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mominul Haque had earlier provided key contributions to build the hosts’ advantage.
Pakistan’s decision to bowl first after winning the toss did not pay off, as they were unable to capitalize on early opportunities and ultimately suffered a heavy defeat in Mirpur.
