A Russian billionaire’s superyacht (PHI ‘) was seized in London on Tuesday. The superyacht has been seized under British government sanctions over the ongoing war in Ukraine and is the first ship to be intercepted in London.
Officials at the National Crime Agency’s (NCA) new ‘Combating Kleptocracy Cell’ have issued a notice for the seizure of a 80 38 million superyacht standing on the Canary Wharf. The agency said that due to the “speedy work” of the intelligence officers, the owner of the ship was identified and a ban on the ship was recommended.
Grant Schops , the UK’s transport minister, said: “Today we seized a ?? 380 million (approximately 3 380 crore) superyacht and made the symbol of Russia ‘s strength and wealth clear and strong to Putin (Russian President) and his allies. The NCA plays a key role in targeting suspicious assets. The NCA reported that it is deliberately well concealed who owns the ship. Significantly, the British government has confiscated the assets of Russian government representatives, businessmen and nobles and imposed a travel ban on them.
