KARACHI: Dr Sham Sunder K. Advani, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Sindh on Minority Affairs and a senior leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party, paid tribute to workers ahead of International Labour Day, stating that the prosperity of labourers is directly linked to Pakistan’s overall progress.

In his message marking May Day, he honoured the sacrifices of the Haymarket affair martyrs in Chicago, noting that the day serves as a powerful reminder of the historic struggle for workers’ rights and dignity.
Dr Advani said the nation salutes hardworking individuals whose tireless contributions are essential to the country’s development and economic growth. He emphasised that labourers form the backbone of society and deserve recognition, protection, and fair opportunities.
Highlighting his party’s stance, he stated that the Pakistan Peoples Party has consistently advocated for labour rights and remains committed to the welfare and uplift of the working class.
He further remarked that May 1 is not just a ceremonial occasion but a symbol of workers’ dignity, resilience, and long-standing struggle for rights. He called on society to observe the day with respect and reaffirm collective responsibility toward ensuring justice and improved conditions for labourers.
