February 11th is the day of the victory of the Islamic revolution of Iran and this year the Iranian people celebrate the jubilant and victorious 43rd anniversary of the victory of their Islamic Revolution.
The victory of the Islamic revolution in Iran in the year 1979 resulted in formation of a system based upon the religion of Islam whose foundations were laid by the people’s empowerment, legitimacy and popularity. The pivotal ideals of this historical revolution are the termination of the domination of the strangers on the country, independence and self reliance, dismissing the colonial and the imperial rulers for the implementation of justice and the right of self-determination.
However, as a result of the disconnection of the colonial countries to reach the enormous resources of energy and oil in Iran, in the years following this victory, Iran witnessed all kinds of violent pressures and ups and downs such as the eight years imposed war, the ever hardest possible economical sanctions, and any other formulas to hold back Iran’s march towards progress and development.
Despite these very vicissitudes, Iran is now witnessing continuous progress and prosperity in all aspects by the reliance on the Almighty God and the steady support of the nation. Numerous progresses in the fields of science, industry, technology, medicine, defence sciences and agriculture have been obtained during the last four decades in the country which are the obvious examples of the fact, and despite the efforts to make obstacles and stop Iran from achieving its goals and causes, the indigenous knowledge and expertise, thwarted and frustrated all the vicious plots.
In what is concerned about Pak-Iran relations, it should be taken into account that Iran and Pakistan are the two significant countries in the region and their crucial role cannot be denied at the regional and international level. Iran and Pakistan are tied with great commonalities such as history-long and traditional cultural and religious values, historical bounds and economic bonds. Enjoying around 1000-kilometer common border, the two countries are the first to recognize each other’s sovereignty and have a continued political and diplomatic relationship and always supported each other at difficult times in the history.
Consolidation and development in the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Iran in different areas of national, regional and international issues is always emphasized by the authorities of Iran and Pakistan. In the same wake, the decisions of the high officials of the two countries should be realized in a way to help facilitate and develop the scope of the cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, tourism, security etc.
Having said this, at the present time the approach of the new government in Iran is to enhance the relations with all countries in the world and particularly with the neighbouring countries including our brotherly and friendly country of Pakistan. The new Iranian foreign policy is based upon the expansion of the relation with the neighbouring countries in the framework of economic and trade relations, connectivity and complementary economy.
Anyhow, regardless of the results from high level negotiations in Vienna, still more grounds are paved to be added to the previous opportunities already existing in front of the two countries. All and all, at the time being many progressive initiatives and enormous capacities exists between the two neighbouring countries that should be seized and materialized for the betterment of the live of the people of the two countries and for a sustainable development throughout the region.
