Open Threats, Provocative Sloganeering, and Desecration of Sacred Relics

HYDERABAD: Disrespect towards revered personalities and desecration of sacred relics are condemnable acts that can never be tolerated under any circumstances. These views were expressed by Sindh’s renowned and senior-most Noha Khawan, Agha Syed Mehr Ali Shah, in a statement issued recently.

He stated that following the decision by the Sindh High Court Circuit Bench Hyderabad, the official construction work initiated by the Auqaf Department, Government of Sindh, on the sacred shrine of the Masooma-e-Sindh, Bibi Maham (S.A.), was obstructed by Ghulam Rasool Qureshi and others. In an effort to incite sectarian tension in the area, they orchestrated a protest through a religious group at the shrine of Bibi Pak, chanted provocative slogans, issued open threats, and desecrated sacred relics placed in areas designated for worship. These are actions that deserve strong condemnation and are deeply regrettable and shameful, and they cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.

He drew the attention of the Sindh Government to the fact that these same individuals had also attacked and vandalized the sacred shrine of Bibi Pak on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr, an incident for which an FIR has been registered at the Gulab Laghari Police Station.

He has demanded that the Government of Sindh, the district administration of Badin, and all security institutions immediately take notice of these subversive activities aimed at spreading sectarian tension, and take prompt legal action against such enemies of peace according to the law.
