The event, held at the Ramada Hotel Multan, brought together farmers, agricultural experts, company officials, and policymakers to celebrate the contributions of Pakistan’s farming community and promote modern agricultural practices.
During the convention, winning farmers received prizes through a lucky draw, including motorcycles, LED televisions, and mobile phones as part of the company’s farmer support program.
The initiative reflects Sona Centre’s ongoing commitment to empowering small and medium-scale farmers by encouraging productivity, innovation, and sustainable farming practices across Pakistan.
Sona Centre has developed a nationwide agricultural support ecosystem that provides farmers with access to high-quality fertilizers, seeds, pesticides, and professional advisory services. The organization is also supported by a network of more than 300 agronomists working to assist farmers with modern cultivation techniques and crop management solutions.
Syed Ali Qasim Gilani attended the ceremony as chief guest and praised Fauji Fertilizer Company (FFC) for establishing an extensive network of Sona Centres throughout the country.
He said the centres are playing a key role in strengthening Pakistan’s food security by ensuring the timely availability of quality agricultural inputs at controlled prices while also offering advisory support and AI-based farming guidance.
Dr. Rao Asif Ali highlighted the importance of sustainable agricultural practices and AI-driven advisory systems in supporting farmers and improving productivity.
He emphasized that stronger collaboration between public institutions and private organizations is essential for bridging the gap between academic research and practical farming needs.
Zahoor Khan stated that the company is actively promoting gender diversity by appointing female agronomists in leadership roles to better serve both male and female farmers.
He added that Sona Centre is also helping farmers through digital initiatives such as e-commerce platforms, crop insurance services, and easier access to agricultural financing with lower markup rates.
Meanwhile, Aftab Naseem briefed participants on the company’s enhanced efficiency fertilizers and its collaboration with Yara International to introduce climate-resilient agricultural products in Pakistan.
The event concluded with another lucky draw in which additional mobile phones were distributed among farmers, adding excitement and appreciation for participants attending the convention.
