RAWALPINDI, Aug. 6: Pakistan Somalia defence relations moved into sharper focus as Somalia’s Defence Minister, H.E. Ambassador Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, met Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi to discuss regional security and enhanced military cooperation.

The high-level Somali delegation held talks on issues of mutual interest, regional security dynamics and measures aimed at strengthening bilateral defence and security collaboration between the two countries.

During the meeting, both sides emphasised the importance of expanding military-to-military engagement and enhancing capacity-building initiatives to address shared security challenges. The discussions also focused on strengthening defence cooperation through closer institutional ties and continued collaboration.
The Somali Defence Minister appreciated Pakistan’s longstanding support and acknowledged the professional role of the Pakistan Armed Forces in promoting regional peace and stability.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Somalia in strengthening its security institutions and enhancing its defence capabilities. He also reiterated Pakistan’s continued support for efforts aimed at promoting lasting peace and stability in the region.
The meeting reflects the growing defence partnership between Pakistan and Somalia, with both countries expressing their commitment to closer strategic cooperation and collaboration on regional security matters.
