Chief Guest Younus Dagha while speaking on this occasion said that the caretaker government made efforts to improve performance of government departments despite limited time and set performance benchmarks. The system of e-services should continue and not be reversed. Karachi unfortunately has no say in policy making despite contributing major revenue to the national exchequer. He advised to take up issues of industries with the high government officials backed by Research & Statistics.

Expressing views on freight charges, Younus Dagha stated that a comprehensive presentation will be given to the government soon as the country is paying 3-4 billion dollars per annum against freight charges.  Political Uncertainty and High Energy cost are the two big challenges at this time. If we control these two issues, the country will be in a position of take-off, he concluded.

Earlier, SAI President Muhammad Kamran Arbi welcomed the guest and recounted his achievements during his tenure as caretaker Minister. He, in particular, appreciated efforts of Younus Dagha for resolving industry-related issues by initiating coordination meetings with all relevant stakeholders, and launching e-services and digitalization of land records of all industrial estates of the province. He has worked to and expedited in all relevant departments.

Patron-in-Chief Zubair Motiwala lauded the devoted work done by Younus Dagha as Secretary Commerce, Minister Industries and other positions. He suggested that the government should take benefit of the experience, insight and capabilities of Younus Dagha and appoint him in top government office at least in Advisory capacity. “Younus Dagha is an asset for us, and he must be given a chance to serve the country”, Motiwala remarked.

Chief Coordinator Saleem Parekh said that we are setting example for appreciating those who did good job while on seat. He mentioned that the work has slowed down on e-service, but it will continue anyway. He requested Younus Dagha to help to portrait positive picture of Karachi industry before the government and also guide on how to improve working performance of SITE Limited.

Former President Jawed Bilwani seconded the views of the Patron-in-Chief and said that the Think Tank working at the Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry under his supervision will prove to be beneficial for the country, of which, the government should take advantage.
