Sindh High Court Suspends Orders on K-Electric Tariff Review
Sindh High Court suspends disputed orders linked to K-Electric’s Multi-Year Tariff review.
The Sindh High Court has suspended the disputed orders and notifications linked to K-Electric’s Multi-Year Tariff (MYT) review for FY2024–FY2030.
The court issued notices to the respondents on October 7. It also suspended the impugned notifications and orders on an interim basis.
K-Electric had approached the Sindh High Court against decisions related to its tariff review. The company challenged the NEPRA Appellate Tribunal judgments dated September 23, 2026.
It also challenged NEPRA’s review determinations dated October 20, 2025. In addition, K-Electric challenged subsequent notifications issued by NEPRA and the Ministry of Energy’s Power Division.

K-Electric argued that NEPRA can review a tariff determination. However, the company maintained that such a review cannot become a fresh tariff determination.
According to K-Electric, the review decisions had a substantial adverse impact on its MYT for FY2024–FY2030. The company also argued that the revised framework would not remain financially sustainable.
Meanwhile, the High Court observed that the issues raised by K-Electric merit consideration. Therefore, it suspended the disputed notifications and orders on an interim basis.
The court has fixed the matter for further hearing. K-Electric said it will continue to pursue the case through the relevant legal and regulatory forums.
The company also reaffirmed its commitment to a fair and cost-reflective tariff framework. At the same time, it said the framework should protect consumers and support the long-term reliability of Karachi’s power infrastructure.
