Sindh Government Shortens Work Hours to 5 During Ramadan

The Sindh Government has officially announced revised working hours for government offices during the holy month of Ramadan, reducing the daily work schedule to just 5 hours. On Fridays, employees will only work for 3 hours.

According to the notification, government offices that follow a five-day workweek will operate from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. On Fridays, these offices will close early at 1:00 pm.

For offices operating on a six-day workweek, the working hours have been set from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, with Friday timings again reduced to 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

It is important to mention that the federal government has also introduced reduced working hours for Ramadan, while private sector organizations typically provide similar relief to their employees during the month.

The Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee confirmed on Friday that the Ramadan moon was not sighted, meaning the first fast will be observed on March 2, 2025, in Pakistan. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia and the UAE have already begun Ramadan, starting their fasts today (Saturday).
