Begum Salma Ahmed passed away at the age of 85 and was laid to rest at the Tariq Road cemetery in Karachi beside her parents.
She was the wife of former Pakistan cricket captain Saeed Ahmed.
Tribute to a Pioneer in Women’s Business Leadership
Shujat Ali Baig, Deputy Convener Corporate Relations and Communications at Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, paid tribute to Begum Salma Ahmed for her contributions to women’s empowerment and the business sector.
He said the late leader played a key role in encouraging women to join the business community. Moreover, he praised her achievements in the shipbreaking industry and her efforts to promote products made by women entrepreneurs at the international level.
Irum Fawwad Calls Loss Irreparable
Meanwhile, Irum Fawwad described Begum Salma Ahmed’s death as an irreparable loss for the country. She also extended condolences to her family, including her sons Arif Janjua, Murtaza Hussain Qureshi, and Farhad Ahmed, as well as her daughters Fawzia Ahmed and Sabiha Ahmed.
Begum Salma Ahmed remained a respected figure in Pakistan’s business and political circles and was widely recognized for supporting women entrepreneurs and economic participation.
