BEIJING : A humanoid robot achieved a historic feat in a half marathon held in the Chinese capital, Beijing, breaking a world record against human runners. According to Al Jazeera, the competition was held in Yizhuang, a southern area of Beijing, on Sunday, April 19, where a large crowd of spectators watched humans and robots race on separate tracks. The winning humanoid robot, running for a Chinese smartphone company, covered the nearly 21km distance in 50 minutes and 26 seconds, with an average speed of around 25km/h. This performance not only beat the human winner of the day, but also surpassed the men’s half marathon world record (57 minutes and 20 seconds), which was held by Jacob Kapilimo.
