Mumbai Police has summoned Nopur Sharma, a spokesperson suspended by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for his blasphemous remarks.
According to Indian media reports, Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjay Pandey has said that suspended BJP leader Nopur Sharma has been summoned to record his statement in connection with the FIR registered against him for making insulting remarks.
Addressing a press conference at Mumbai Police Headquarters, Sanjay Pandey said, “An FIR has already been registered against Nopur Sharma at Paidhoni police station. We will call him to record his statement in accordance with the law. The car will be operated.
Nopur Sharma was suspended from the BJP on June 5 for allegedly making insulting remarks against the Prophet of Islam.
It is to be noted that BJP spokesperson Nopur Sharma had spoken insultingly on a TV channel in honor of Islam and the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
On the other hand, India and abroad are expressing outrage over the blasphemous statement while the ‘Boycott India’ campaign was also launched in the Arab countries.
According to foreign media reports, Boycott India’s campaign has started in Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
