ISLAMABAD – Rados?aw Sikorski, Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, on Sunday commended Pakistan’s diplomatic role in facilitating a ceasefire between the United States and Iran during a telephone conversation with Ishaq Dar, the Foreign Office said.

According to the statement, both leaders appreciated the positive momentum in Pakistan–Poland relations and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation across areas of mutual interest. They also exchanged views on key regional and global developments.

Sikorski specifically praised Pakistan’s efforts in promoting dialogue and diplomacy, noting that Islamabad’s role in mediating between Washington and Tehran contributed to efforts aimed at maintaining peace and stability in the region.

In a separate development, Dar also held a conversation with Anita Anand, who expressed support for Pakistan’s continued engagement in fostering constructive dialogue between the parties.

“Both sides expressed hope for lasting peace and a durable ceasefire across the region, including in Lebanon,” the Foreign Office said, adding that the two countries reaffirmed their commitment to regional stability and cooperation.

The diplomatic outreach comes against the backdrop of heightened tensions following the February 28 US-Israeli strikes on Iran and Tehran’s subsequent retaliation. A Pakistan-brokered ceasefire, in effect since April 8, has temporarily halted hostilities.

Pakistan recently hosted the first round of direct talks between the United States and Iran in Islamabad, which concluded without a formal agreement but maintained the ceasefire. A second round of negotiations is expected in the coming week, though no official date has been announced.

Islamabad’s continued diplomatic engagement is being viewed as a key factor in sustaining dialogue and preventing further escalation in an already volatile region.
