Pakistan’s mangoes take the spotlight at Karachi Marriott’s Mango Diplomacy Fest

Mango Diplomacy took centre stage in Karachi as the Karachi Marriott Hotel, in partnership with the Foreign Affairs Liaison Office Karachi of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and in collaboration with the All Pakistan Fruit & Vegetable Exporters, Importers & Merchants Association (PFVA), hosted the Mango Diplomacy Fest. The event brought together members of the diplomatic corps, senior government officials, business leaders and representatives of Pakistan’s fruit export industry to promote the country’s world-renowned mangoes.
The gathering highlighted Pakistan’s premium mango varieties as a symbol of the country’s culture, hospitality and export excellence while encouraging stronger international engagement through culinary diplomacy.
First Lady attends as chief guest
The event was attended by H.E. Ms. Asifa Bhutto Zardari, First Lady of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, who served as the chief guest. Guests were welcomed by Muhammad Irfan Soomro, Director General of the Foreign Affairs Liaison Office Karachi, while Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah addressed participants on the significance of promoting Pakistan’s agricultural exports and cultural identity.
The festival provided a platform for diplomats and stakeholders to experience Pakistan’s hospitality while strengthening relationships between government institutions, the diplomatic community and the private sector.
Karachi Marriott showcases mango-inspired cuisine
Karachi Marriott Hotel’s culinary team prepared an exclusive menu featuring Pakistan’s famous mangoes in a variety of creative dishes and beverages. The specially curated selection included refreshing drinks, savoury canapés, gourmet hot appetisers and handcrafted desserts designed to highlight the versatility and rich flavour of the country’s signature fruit.
The menu reflected the hotel’s commitment to culinary innovation while celebrating the heritage and quality of Pakistan’s internationally recognised mango varieties.
Promoting exports through culinary diplomacy
The event concluded with the presentation of commemorative shields by the chief guest, followed by a vote of thanks from Raza Abbas, General Manager of Karachi Marriott Hotel, and a ceremonial cake-cutting.
Organisers said the Mango Diplomacy Fest reaffirmed the shared commitment of Karachi Marriott Hotel, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and PFVA to promoting Pakistan’s premium mangoes as ambassadors of the country’s culture, hospitality and export industry while strengthening diplomatic goodwill and international partnerships.
