Pakistan Navy’s PNS/M HANGOR Conducts Maiden Live Weapon Firing

Pakistan Navy’s newly inducted submarine PNS/M HANGOR has conducted its maiden live weapon firing in the North Arabian Sea, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The submarine launched an anti-ship cruise missile during the exercise. It successfully engaged a designated long-range target, ISPR said.

The exercise marked a major test of the submarine’s operational readiness. It also demonstrated its ability to conduct precision strikes at sea.

Naval Chief Witnesses Missile Firing

Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf witnessed the live firing. He praised the submarine’s combat capabilities.

The naval chief also highlighted the importance of stronger subsurface capabilities. He said such capabilities support credible maritime deterrence.

ISPR said the successful firing reflects the Pakistan Navy’s focus on maintaining a modern and combat-ready force. The Navy aims to protect Pakistan’s maritime frontiers and support regional peace.

HANGOR Joins Pakistan Navy Fleet

PNS/M HANGOR is the first of eight Hangor-class submarines being acquired by Pakistan from China. The submarine arrived at Karachi Port in June after its induction.

The Hangor-class submarines feature advanced combat systems and modern sensors. They also use Air Independent Propulsion (AIP) technology and enhanced stealth capabilities, according to Pakistan Navy information reported by local media.

The induction forms part of Pakistan-China defence cooperation. It also supports the Pakistan Navy’s programme to strengthen its undersea warfare capabilities.

The latest firing adds to a series of recent weapons tests by the Pakistan Navy. In April, the Navy reported successful tests involving locally developed anti-ship systems.
