ISLAMABAD: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry on Thursday stated that Pakistan achieved a decisive and “crushing defeat” against a numerically larger adversary across all fronts during the 2025 conflict known as “Marka-e-Haq.”

The military spokesperson said Pakistan successfully confronted an enemy that was “five times larger in size,” adding that the armed forces demonstrated exceptional operational capability throughout the conflict. Senior officers from the Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Air Force were also present during the press briefing.
The term “Marka-e-Haq” refers to the escalation between Pakistan and India that began following the April 22, 2025 attack in Pahalgam, which resulted in multiple casualties. India had immediately accused Pakistan of involvement, a claim that Islamabad strongly rejected.
According to the sequence of events outlined, tensions escalated further when India took several diplomatic and economic measures, including suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, visa cancellations, border closures at Wagah-Attari, and reductions in diplomatic staff.
The situation intensified on May 7, 2025, when missile strikes reportedly targeted multiple locations in Punjab and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in civilian casualties and damage to infrastructure, including religious sites.
In response, Pakistan’s armed forces carried out retaliatory actions, including the downing of Indian aircraft such as Rafale jets. The conflict escalated further on May 10, 2025, when additional strikes were carried out on Pakistani airbases, followed by Pakistan’s counter-operation named “Operation Bunyanum Marsoos,” which targeted Indian military installations, including airbases and missile storage facilities.
The DG ISPR said Pakistan’s response demonstrated operational superiority and coordination across all branches of the armed forces, describing the outcome as a significant military success.
The hostilities concluded on May 10, 2025, when a ceasefire was announced following diplomatic efforts led by international stakeholders. The agreement was confirmed by officials from both Pakistan and India shortly after the announcement by then US President Donald Trump.
