Pakistan’s armed forces have intercepted and downed an Indian surveillance quadcopter that violated Pakistani airspace near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Bhimber sector’s Manaawar area, as reported by ARY News citing security officials.
The drone was reportedly conducting espionage operations when it was detected and neutralized. Security sources highlighted this incident as a testament to the Pakistan Army’s high alertness, professional readiness, and strong defensive posture against any hostile action.
This event comes amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following the recent Pahalgam attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which resulted in the deaths of 26 people, including many tourists.
In response to the escalating situation, UN Secretary-General António Guterres voiced concern and urged both countries to exercise restraint. He offered support for any efforts that could help reduce tensions and promote constructive dialogue.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s firm stance against terrorism and expressed willingness to take part in a neutral, transparent investigation into the Pahalgam incident. He criticized India’s tendency to issue unverified accusations without credible evidence, calling for an end to this pattern of blame-shifting.
